Designed around real household use
Solar isn’t just about panels on a roof. It’s about understanding how your household uses energy, when it needs it, and how to make the most of what you generate.
At BlackRock, we design residential solar and EV charging systems around real life, not assumptions. That means systems sized properly for your home, installed with care, and supported long term.
Whether you’re starting with solar, adding battery storage, or installing an EV charger, we’ll help you make informed decisions without pressure.
WHAT WE INSTALL
HOME EV Charging
Safe, certified EV chargers integrated into your existing electrical system. Installed with capacity, safety, and future proofing in mind, and designed to work seamlessly alongside solar and battery storage.
Home solar PV systems
Designed around how your household uses energy, not headline figures. We assess usage patterns, roof layout, and future plans to size systems properly, so solar works efficiently from day one and continues to deliver long-term value.

BlackRock Electrical installed my home solar PV system and battery storage. A lovely, professional and friendly team arrived and did a great job. They clearly took pride in their work; not least ensuring all the labels are beautifully aligned. Support following the installation has been really superb. I can't fault this company and would happily recommend them.

What MCS Certification Means for Homeowners
MCS certification gives homeowners and businesses confidence that their system is not just installed, but installed properly, with long-term performance and compliance in mind. For homeowners, MCS certification is essential if you want to export excess solar energy back to the grid and receive payments through the Smart Export Guarantee.
It also provides reassurance that:
- Your system has been sized correctly for your household
- Safety and electrical compliance have been independently verified
- Documentation is in place for future sale, insurance, or upgrades
In short, it protects your investment and ensures your solar system performs as expected for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my home suitable for solar panels?
Most homes are suitable, but every installation starts with an assessment. We look at roof orientation, pitch, shading, available space, and your household energy use before recommending anything.
How much electricity can home solar generate?
That depends on your roof, system size, and how your household uses energy. Rather than quoting headline figures, we design systems around realistic usage and expected output.
Do I need battery storage with solar?
No. Battery storage is optional. It can be useful if you want to store excess energy for evening use, reduce reliance on the grid, or support EV charging outside daylight hours. We only recommend it where it adds real value.
Can solar, battery storage, and EV charging work together?
Yes, but each system plays a different role.
Solar panels generate electricity during the day. A battery can store surplus energy for use later in the evening or overnight. An EV charger can be programmed to charge when solar generation is highest or when off-peak electricity tariffs are available.
We design each system around how your home actually uses energy, so everything works efficiently without overcomplicating it.
Will solar panels work in winter or on cloudy days?
Yes. Solar panels still generate electricity in daylight, even during winter or overcast conditions. Output is lower than in summer, which is why systems are designed with seasonal variation in mind.
How long does a home solar installation take?
Most residential solar and EV charging installations are completed within a few days. We’ll confirm timescales in advance and keep disruption to a minimum.
Is EV charging at home safe?
Yes, when installed correctly. All home EV chargers we install are fully certified, compliant, and integrated safely into your existing electrical system.
How do I get a quote or discuss my project?
You can contact us to arrange an initial discussion. We’ll talk through your home, your energy use, and your future plans before providing a clear recommendation and quote.
Can I add battery storage or EV charging later?
Yes. Many homeowners start with solar and add battery storage or EV charging later. We design systems with future upgrades in mind wherever possible.
Do I need planning permission for home solar panels?
In most cases, residential solar installations fall under permitted development. We’ll advise if any permissions or additional considerations apply to your property.
How much maintenance do solar panels and batteries need?
Very little. Solar panels have no moving parts and require minimal upkeep. We’ll explain any maintenance considerations as part of your installation.
Is finance available for home solar, battery storage, or EV charging?
For some residential projects, finance may be available to help spread the cost. Finance is optional, subject to status and affordability checks, and we’ll make sure you understand your options before proceeding.
