Qualified Electrician

For electricians who want varied work, more responsibility and the opportunity to develop in growing technical areas.

Essential

  • Completed Level 3 electrical qualification
  • Current 18th Edition
  • At least two years' experience since qualifying
  • Full UK driving licence and own hand tools
  • Comfortable dealing with clients and running work


USEFUL TO HAVE

  • 2391 Test and Inspection
  • Solar PV, batteries or EV charging
  • F Gas or air conditioning
  • Loxone or smart home systems
  • Commercial or live site experience


Apprentice Electrician

For someone practical, reliable, and serious about learning the electrical trade properly from day one.

Essential

  • A genuine interest in the electrical trade
  • Reliable daily travel to the Abingdon unit
  • Commitment to college and the full apprenticeship
  • Maths and English at the required JTL level
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need experience to apply for the Apprenticeship?

    No previous electrical experience is required. We are looking for reliability, practical curiosity, and a genuine interest in building a career in the trade.

  • For the Apprentice role what Maths and English qualifications do I need?

    JTL normally looks for GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English, an equivalent Level 2 qualification, or the required level through its initial assessment process.

  • I am qualified Electrician but do not hold 2391. Should I apply?

    Yes. Testing and inspection are an advantage, but they are not listed as an essential requirement for the role. BlackRock supports further training for the right person.

  • Where would I need to travel to each day?

    The team is based at 58a Hadland Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3YH. You will need a reliable way of reaching the office or on site at the start of the working day.

  • Will I need a DBS check?

    Some work takes place in schools and care settings. The appropriate check may therefore be required before appointment, depending on the work you will undertake.

  • Can I register interest even if I am not ready to move?
